You answer in one line, in your own words, and the account, class and memo come back written, ready to post.

You already have a bookkeeper

Keeping the books is not the same as running them.

Most businesses already have someone in the books. The question is not whether the work gets done. It is whether you can see it, when it closes, whether anyone reads the numbers forward, and what happens the day that person is out.

What actually happens
Your current setupThe books get kept and balanced. That is the whole job.
With LucaThe books get closed and read: what changed, what it means, and what to watch.
The forward look
Your current setupNone. Bookkeeping only looks backward.
With LucaA weekly cash forecast and FP&A: runway, scenarios, and the decisions ahead.
When you see it
Your current setupAt month end, often weeks late.
With LucaClosed by the 5th, in a live portal you open any hour.
Asking a question
Your current setupYou email, then wait for business hours.
With LucaAsk Luca answers on your live books at 2 AM. Your accountant signs the same day.
If your person is out
Your current setupThe work stops, and the context lives in their head.
With LucaEvery decision is written in your own QuickBooks. A successor steps into a documented file.
What it costs
Your current setupBy the hour, and a CFO is a second invoice.
With LucaOne flat fee, with the bookkeeping and the CFO analysis together.

If your books already close on time, and someone is already turning them into a forecast you can act on, you may not need Luca. Most owners we talk to have one of those, not both.

Adriel Kornschuh, the accountant behind Luca

Run by Adriel Kornschuh.

Founder of Luca. Accountant and fractional CFO.

Works US Eastern hours, on US businesses.

One accountant on your file, not a junior rotating through it.

A lot of software is arriving at accounting from the outside right now. This is the other direction: an accountant with a business administration degree who did this work from the inside, and got good at software. The AI here is not off the shelf: it runs the method I used by hand for years, written down as rules it has to follow. The person who closes your books writes your report and answers your questions, on US Eastern hours. One person covering both the bookkeeping and the CFO work is why it is one flat fee, not two separate invoices.

  • Board packages prepared for an M&A process, written for the people on the other side of the table.
  • Books for venture-backed US technology companies, including AI startups, where the numbers had to hold up to investors.
  • Cleanups and chart of accounts rebuilds: files that had grown for years until nobody could read a report from them.
  • Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisor certified, the credential Intuit itself issues for QuickBooks Online expertise.
  • Client names stay out of this page. Ask in the diagnostic and the specifics get discussed there.

Luca is not a US CPA firm: your tax preparer keeps filing, and gets clean books from me in January instead of a shoebox in March.

A first group of ten this year

The first group is deliberately small, and that is the reason to come in now.

You will not find a wall of logos or borrowed testimonials here. What being in the first group buys you instead:

1

One accountant owning the work. The same accountant closes the month, writes the commentary and answers in the thread.

2

The first intake closes at ten companies. One accountant signs every close, so the group stays small on purpose. Founding terms for those ten: the price you sign is the price you keep for as long as you stay, and the books cleanup runs at half price. When the ten are in, the intake closes.

3

You can audit the work, not trust it. The checklist, the reasoning on every entry and the age of every question are all visible in the demo, right now.

4

Nothing to lose by looking. Demos need no login, the diagnostic is free, and you can leave any month.

And if your accountant is unavailable? The work is built to survive that. Your books live in your own QuickBooks, every decision is written down in the portal, and every report stays exportable. A successor accountant steps into a documented file.

What usually needs fixing

Most books have the same handful of problems. Here is how each one gets solved.

None of these are edge cases. Each is a specific way the books quietly go wrong at a growing company, and exactly how Luca handles it.

The number that lied

The bank balance said the hire was fine. It was not. That number still counted a payroll run, two vendor checks nobody had cashed, and the sales tax due in three weeks. The books would mention all of it eventually, in next month's close.

A weekly eight-week forecast subtracts what is already committed before you ever see the number, so the balance stops lying and a yes is a yes you can afford.

The slow leak

You cancelled that software back in the spring. It has billed the card on the same day every month since, nine charges in a row, because reconciling the feed is the task that always slips to next week.

Every transaction is matched against the bank feed the same week it clears, so a charge that should not be there is caught in days, not at a year-end cleanup.

Key-person risk

One person knows why revenue is split across three accounts, which vendor is actually the landlord, and what that recurring journal entry is really for. None of it is written down. It lives in the head of the bookkeeper who just gave notice.

Every judgment call is written in your own QuickBooks with a note and searchable in the portal, so the next person opens a documented file instead of guessing.

The 11 pm transfer

Payroll clears Friday. Thursday at eleven you are moving money between accounts and texting a client to please, finally, pay the invoice from two months ago, because the only warning you got was this morning's balance.

Receivables are tracked to their due dates and the forecast flags the tight week two months out, so you move money on a plan instead of at midnight.

The dumping ground

Miscellaneous is one of the three biggest lines on your P&L, and Ask My Accountant has a backlog going back to last spring. Nobody chose that. It is just where a transaction goes when the month has to close and no one knows the answer.

The cleanup empties both, gives every line a real category, and sets rules so they stay empty, and the P&L starts reading like a statement instead of a shrug.

The product you avoid

You are almost sure one service line loses money once you count the hours that go into it. You have thought so for a year. You have not checked, because checking means admitting the reports cannot split revenue and cost by line.

Revenue and cost get tracked by product, service or job, so margin shows up per line and the thing you have been avoiding becomes a number you can act on.

This is the product. Drive it.

Luca does the books; this portal is where you watch them happen. Open every section, ask questions, break nothing.

Cash is trending up: $288,153 in sight

From $218,853 today to $288,153 in eight weeks if invoices and bills land on their due dates. A good stretch to decide what that surplus should do: taxes set aside, a cushion, or reinvestment. Happy to run the numbers on any of the three.

Your August 2026 report
Revenue$246,728
Expenses$217,475
Net income$29,253
Cash at month end$239,565
From your accountant

August brought in $246,728 between retainers and project work, against $217,475 of costs, leaving $29,253 of net income. The recurring base held steady, which is the part that matters most for planning. The number worth your attention is receivables. There is $67,500 sitting past due, most of it with two clients, and that is why cash moved less than the month on paper suggests. Chasing those two would turn a good month on the income statement into a good month in the bank.

Start with the free diagnostic

Running several entities, or need board and lender packages on demand? CFO scope starts at $5,000/mo, and the exact number comes from the same free diagnostic. On the Partner plan, see a sample board deck.

Every size assumes up to about 500 bank and card transactions a month; above that, the free diagnostic reads the file and prices the work first, so nobody meets a surprise in month two. A one-time cleanup, if you need one, is quoted from the same diagnostic and typically runs $1,500 to $2,500; the ten founding companies pay half of that.

Weighing it against doing it yourself or buying software? The honest comparison

Tax season

January arrives with a package, not a scramble.

Luca does not file your taxes; your tax preparer does, and gets the easiest January of their career. Every client gets a year-end tax package built from books that were closed month by month, and the preparer can ask anything about it. The back and forth is included, not billed.

The year, closed

Full-year profit and loss and the year-end balance sheet, from months that were verified when they happened, not reconstructed in March.

1099s, ready

Every vendor over the $600 threshold with their W-9 status, chased during the year instead of in a January panic.

Notes for the preparer

How owner transactions, assets and meals were booked, in writing, so classification questions are answered before they are asked.

Find out what shape your books are in. It costs nothing.

Luca reads your QuickBooks read-only, grades the books 0 to 100, and hands you an ordered cleanup plan. If your books are fine, the diagnostic says so.

What happens next: a one-click sign-in lands in your email, then QuickBooks connects read-only. About three minutes end to end, and nothing in your books changes.

Your data, before you hand it over

It cannot touch your books

The diagnostic connection cannot post, edit or delete anything in QuickBooks. You grant it in your own QuickBooks account, and you can revoke it there any time, without asking anyone.

Encrypted and fenced

Connection tokens are encrypted at rest, and every row of your data is fenced to your company at the database layer. The isolation is retested automatically on every change Luca ships.

Seen by your accountant, nobody else

Your books are read to do your books. Nothing is sold, shared with third parties, or used to train models. Leave, and the QuickBooks file was yours all along.
